3KCBWDAY7 - Crafting Balance

Today is the final day of Eskimimi Makes 3rd annual Knitting and Crochet week. It has been a blast and I cannot wait to do it again next year. It was not easy but I made sure I posted every single day and it has helped me figure out how I want to run my blog going forward. I hope you all have enjoyed the posts just as much as I have enjoyed writing them. Now on to the final topic!

Topic of the day - 3KCBWDAY7 Crafting Balance

Are you a knitter or a crocheter, or are you a bit of both? If you are monogamous in your yarn-based crafting, is it because you do not enjoy the other craft or have you simply never given yourself the push to learn it? Is it because the items that you best enjoy crafting are more suited to the needles or the hook? Do you plan on ever trying to take up and fully learn the other craft? If you are equally comfortable knitting as you are crocheting, how do you balance both crafts? Do you always have projects of each on the go, or do you go through periods of favouring one over the other? How did you come to learn and love your craft(s)?

I am a multi-crafter. I knit, I crochet, I spin on a drop spindle, I even sew and make a PMC jewelry artist. So trying to find a balance between all my crafts is very difficult. I find myself Knitting or Crocheting more than any of my other crafts because it is much easier to take on the go. Though you can take the drop spindle with you on the go, I am not exactly that comfortable in my knowledge of spinning to do it anywhere. I find that to spin I have to be in a calm environment so I usually leave that to when I am relaxing at home.

It is a balancing act that I have not yet grasped, it is hard, there is just so much that I want to accomplish but not enough time in the day. I usually feel like this:

Yep, a juggling clown. But I try my best and try to give each of my crafts as much attention as time allows because I truly love them all equally. They all give me a different type of fulfillment and enjoyment.

One of the many Fine Silver Jewelry pieces I have made.

Tote Bags that I love to make, great way to carry projects.

A Crochet baby blanket and Knitted baby hat I made for my friend.
Just looking at the picture's brings a big smile to my face and makes me want to learn more. Crafting is the way that I keep my creativity going and how I get away from the stresses of work.

Until next time, Happy Knitting!
